Job Description Golf Club Professional, Hickleton Golf Club



Overall job purpose: working under the direction of the Management Committee

•To be the first point of contact for members and visitors wishing to utilise the club’s golfing facilities, ensuring that their expectations are consistently met or exceeded;

•To run the golf shop and assist in ensuring that it achieves a profitable return to the club, including the provision of a club repair and custom fit service;

•To organise and deliver the coaching for groups and individuals;

•To assist in the organisation and running of competitions, corporate days and Open days;

•To be proactive in the marketing of the club to visiting parties and societies and to participate, as requested, in club competitions and Captain/Pro events;

•To be proactive in the attraction of new members to the club and the retention of existing ones.


Key responsibilities:

Operations

•To organise shop opening and closing procedures following standard operating procedures for till reconciliation, site security etc.;
•To meet & greet visiting parties and societies to advise on course details, conditions and club etiquette requirements;
•To be the principal point of contact for the club’s online tee booking system and to ensure that availability of the tee online is updated in accordance with other club events;
•To collect fees and process payments in line with club procedures, including shop sales and green fees;
•To assist in organising and running competitions and other events, to help make them a success;
•To organise and control play on the course in line with the club’s policies;
•To perform basic club repairs and custom fitting to the standard required to generate maximum customer satisfaction;
•To organise and control the hire of all relevant equipment rentals, including buggies;
•To be responsible for the staffing of the golf shop, ensuring that there are sufficient staff available to meet the operational needs of its opening hours.

Teaching

•To organise and deliver effective coaching for individuals and groups, ensuring that participant’s needs are identified, coaching sessions are planned and delivered to develop participant’s performance and the effectiveness of sessions is evaluated and reviewed;
•To work with the Junior Organiser in organising and promoting junior golf at the club;
•To work on own initiative to build up a client base for coaching.

Retailing

•To offer specialist advice using product knowledge, recommend products and services to meet customer requirements;
•To provide excellent customer service at all times;
•To maximise profitable sales through the golf shop;
•To ensure that the golf shop is clean, orderly, well-stocked and professionally presented at all times;
•To monitor and regularly update sales display areas, including window displays and merchandise “hot spots”;
•To organise promotions to stimulate golf shop sales;
•To take responsibility for stock control and ordering, working within the parameters agreed with the club treasurer.
